“I looked into surfboard design and had a total paradigm shift. All of a sudden I had found something I could make that could be not only beautiful but totally functional. “

THIS traveling shaper

learned the craft of surfboard building in the north of Florida, riding ever changing south-east coast waves at the same time. These wildly varying conditions, never ever providing a consistent wave is the ultimate challenge for any shaper. And it honed Sean’s shaping to a level way past just doing a million boards of the same couple of models, but keep trying to evolve his shapes to achieve the ultimate combination of lift, hold and glide.

lift, hold and glide

Although as said a long time traveler, Sean has quite recently formalised his designs and stamped out a fresh website showcasing all available board models and details. With one or two yearly shaping trips to Europe he’s able to fulfill most custom orders pretty swiftly - as ‘swift’ as it gets in the handshaped surfboard world anyway… - and we’re stoked to offer his boards in our shop stock as well as our rental quiver.

Check out his shapes below and drop us a line for questions about customs or just fill out the custom order form and we’ll get you sorted. Right on.

SEAN’s SHAPES

Sean Cusick Grayston Longboard

the Grayston

The Grayston is a versatile pintail that holds in the steepest sections and allows for tight pocket turns. 50/50 rails in the center bend to soft up-rails in the nose and tail. Wide point pushed back. Speed through fast, hollow knee-barrel sections or push turns as hard as you want in waves up to head and a half. Available in sizes 8’6”- 10’.

The EL7

The El 7 is for those who like the snap and hold of a square tail. 50/50 rails in the center blend to slight up-rails in the nose in tail. Slightly rounder nose than the Grayston. Works in anything from knee to slightly overhead. Available in sizes 9’-10’

Anhnga.jpg

The Anhinga

The Anhinga is a new model for 2019 featuring a narrow outline with the wide point forward. Pinched 50/50 rails in the center blend to sharp up-rails in the nose and a tucked down-rail in the tail with a hard edge in the last 6 inches. Rolled nose blends to a slight vee out the tail. Ride this board a few inches shorter than your log. Works best in waist to head high, punchy conditions. Push hard and go fast.

Sean-Cusick-Longboard-The Heron.jpg

the Heron

The Heron is a board for fast waves, big or small. Huck yourself over the edge and go. Features pinched down-rails through the back 2/3 of the board blending into a rolled up nose. Generous nose rocker so you don’t kill yourself in the bigger stuff. Single to double concave. Hard edge in the last 12” of the tail. Recommend 8-9” Bow fin from Macho fins. Available sizes 10’-12’.

the Anthias Fish

The Anthias features a full outline and generous down rails throughout with added nose rocker and a tucked edge through the tail. Recommended as a quad but available as a twin fin. Works best in waves waist high to head and a half.

TheDion.jpg

the DION

The Dion is my personal go-to board. I take one everywhere I go around the world and it never lets me down. Works in the barrel, chases fast point sections, and is loose enough for a punchy beachbreak. Wide point forward, soft down-rails run back to a tucked edge in the last foot of the tail. Slight kick in the nose. Single concave to spiral vee. Comes in a pintail or diamond tail. 6’0-7’0.
